Rosecroft was opened in 1949 and features harness racing; it was once considered the social and political center of Prince George's County. It was originally the W.E. Miller Stables located next to the Rosecroft Stock Farm, where horses were bred. For many years, Rosecroft Raceway held an annual sale of yearling Standard bred horses bred in Maryland. It also hosted the annual Sire Stake Races to promote the best of Maryland-bred horses. After a three-year closure, it reopened October 2011 with new ownership, Penn National Gaming. Rosecroft is located in Ft. Washington, Maryland, just minutes away from the National Harbor, DC's metro area's newest premier waterfront community, just steps from the Nation's capital. This exciting and vibrant community features a wide array of restaurants, unparalleled shopping, stunning office space and lavish residences.
